Stop refreshing the forecast: get told when your spot comes good

There is a ritual most paddlers know well. You want to get out this week, so you open the forecast on Monday, again at lunch, again that evening, hunting for the one window when the wind drops and the spot you like comes good. It is a lot of checking for a couple of hours on the water. PaddleScout can do the watching for you.

An alert is three simple choices. You pick one of your saved spots. You pick how calm it needs to be, from calm, through fair, to fresh if you are happy in a bit more wind. Then you set the days and times you could actually paddle, so a perfect Tuesday morning while you are at work never pings you.

From then on PaddleScout checks the forecast for that spot against what you asked for. When a window matches, inside the hours you said you were free, it emails you: here is the spot, here is when, here are the wind, gust, temperature and rain behind it. You go from refreshing a forecast to answering a message.

This gets sharper when your spots know which winds they hide from. If you have set a spot's shelter aspect, so the app knows it is tucked out of a westerly, an alert on that spot quietly does more work: it is watching the one launch that suits the wind that is coming, not just any calm day. You can also leave the checking entirely and take a weekly roundup instead: a single message that looks across your saved spots and tells you where the paddling looks best in the days ahead. Either way, the forecast stops living in your head.
