Stranton put-in (Hartlepool)

Moored a short distance along the same stretch of water is the paddle steamer PS Wingfield Castle, built in Hartlepool by William Gray & Company and launched in 1934; it carried passengers across the Humber Estuary until 1974 and is now preserved as a floating exhibit with its own café aboard.
The frigate HMS Trincomalee, launched in 1817 and the oldest British-built warship still afloat, lies moored further along the same quay as part of the Royal Navy Museums Hartlepool site. Both preserved ships float within the marina basin created from Hartlepool's former South Docks, itself a working shipyard until it closed in 1964.
