LochCrosswood Reservoir slipway
West Lothian, ScotlandA slipway on Crosswood Reservoir, a small, shallow Scottish Water reservoir on the Crosswood Burn in the Pentland Hills above West Calder, built in 1868 to compensate mill owners downstream on the River Almond for water taken for Edinburgh's supply. It sits at around 1012 feet above sea level with an open, upland setting.

West Lothian, ScotlandA slipway onto the Union Canal near Niddry Castle, a 16th-century tower house between Winchburgh and Broxburn that sits close to the towpath among former oil-shale bings. The canal towpath here forms part of the popular Linlithgow-to-Ratho walking and cycling route.

West Lothian, ScotlandThis concrete slipway launches onto Linlithgow Loch, the largest natural freshwater loch in the Lothians at about 41 hectares, next to Linlithgow Palace and the town. The loch previously had a dedicated watersports base at the Low Port Centre, which closed in 2021, and it still hosts Linlithgow Kayak Racing's summer loch race series.

West Lothian, ScotlandThis slipway sits on the Union Canal at Linlithgow Basin, right in the town rather than at the separate village of Linlithgow Bridge two kilometres to the west. Linlithgow Kayak Racing uses the canal basin as the start and finish point for its winter time trials, and the Linlithgow Canal Centre operates from the same spot.
